Exeter Garden Railway Show
Each October, the Group organises and hosts the Exeter Garden Railway Show. Started in 2002 and run initially as a local show by the old South West Group of 16mm modellers it has been an annual event ever since. It is now regarded as one of the premier garden railway shows in the country and regularly attracts visitors not only from the South West of England but also from much further afield.
It is currently held at the Matford Centre in Exeter and its aims are to showcase all the popular scales and gauges that can be run successfully in the garden. We normally have 16mm narrow gauge on 32mm & 45mm tracks and G Scale on 45mm, whilst the standard gauges include "O", "1" and "3". Propulsion is live steam, battery power, track powered electric and clockwork.
The history of garden railways is important to us and is represented by vintage gauge "O" and "1" tinplate and "heritage" 16mm live steam.
No show would be complete without traders and we are fortunate to to be able to offer visitors a huge selection all under one roof. Virtually everything you could wish for, from a large steam locomotive to the smallest spare part, from buildings to adhesives, can be found somewhere.
